Aleta Trauger

Judge Trauger is an exceptional judge. Prior to hearings it is always abundantly clear that she has read and studied all of the parties' pleadings, their exhibits, and even the handwritten letters from the defendants' cousins. She has a remarkable courtroom demeanor and way of speaking that inspires confidence in litigants that they are actually being listened to, and their arguments are being considered. She makes her rulings clearly, logically and in a manner that the least-educated criminal defendant (or defense lawyer) can easily understand and respect. Whether you have won or lost in her court, your client feels that he has been treated respectfully and fairly.

I cannot understand the low ratings given this superb judge by the first two reviewers. Judge Trauger is fair to a fault, smart, always well-prepared, always on time for court, and has a reputation among civil lawyers for her readiness to try cases rather than string out the pre-trial process and then decide them all on summary judgment. An A+ judge.

6th Circuit finally reversed and vacated Judge Trauger's hold on Tennesses' executions (8th amendment)... we vacate the district court’s judgment and remand for further proceedings.
