In over 40 years of federal practice in courts across the nation, I have never encountered a jurist with a worse judicial temperament than Judge Moses. She gratuitously berates all of the counsel, and the litigants, in front of her. Her role model appears to be the proverbial Queen of Hearts. She routinely cuts off counsel in mid-sentence and makes rulings without the parties being permitted to even present their respective positions. And this is not simply a problem of bias --- Judge Moses is an equal opportunity tyrant in her courtroom. She has no interest in hearing of problems that counsel may have regarding scheduling and the like --- she never misses an opportunity to explain how SHE is working harder than everyone else, even holding trials on weekends, and so she doesn't see why attorneys appearing before her can't do the same. If conflicts exits, she routinely orders state court judges to change their calendars so counsel can appear before her. Judge Moses clearly believes that she is the smartest person in the courtroom, and she will generally not consider the substance of legal arguments presented by counsel. This is most unfortunate, because Judge Moses seems reasonably intelligent and capable of being a competent jurist. But she has her little fiefdom, with no readily-apparent oversight, and continues to procced as a despot, to the detriment of all parties and attorneys who appear before her.
