This judge is completely clueless about fairness and impartiality. He simply picks a side and blindly copies whatever they write in their briefs. repeats false assertions and ignores the rule of law. Avoid this court at all costs.

I completely agree with prior comments. His bias and lack of impartiality is best demonstrated by always favoring one side and ignoring the other. Judicial integrity appears to be absent in this judge’s courtroom. According to California Rules of Court 10.20, judges are required to uphold "the integrity and impartiality of the judicial system and ensure court interactions are free of bias." Unfortunately, that standard is not being met here. This judge clearly favors one side and consistently goes out of his way to protect them, regardless of how unfounded or unreasonable their positions may be.

Judge Sweet consistently demonstrates a lack of impartiality and fairness in his decision-making. His actions often suggest a predisposition towards one side, undermining his objectivity. Furthermore, there appears to be a troubling disregard for the relevant materials and case documentation, which raises concerns regarding his thoroughness and diligence in reviewing the papers submitted. Additionally, it is evident that Judge Sweet lacks sufficient experience and or willingness in learning about in civil law, which is apparent in his rulings and approach to cases. His behavior, marked by a lack of courtesy and an unwarranted air of arrogance, diminishes the integrity of the judicial process.

Update: At an IC, the Judge is thoughtful and almost deferential. In general, does not like making decisions which could be appealed. Has trouble saying yes or no. Forgets what he said at the last conference, and gets prickly if you try to get him back on track. Sometimes letting people try their cases is a waste of everyone's time at the extremes. Judging is hard and after 15 years maybe he needs a change or at least a good rest.

I think the judge makes an effort to be good. He gets stymied at thehearing by tangential issues. Can get prickly. Has forgotten the importance of letting everyone have their say. Smarter than most lawyers, which is not saying much.

Judge Andrew Sweet is extremely unfair after he picks a side. He is lazy and does not read the papers. He is not in any way impartial nor is he courteous. He is a phony and he lacks the experience of civil law and it shows He is a mental midget. He is arrogant. Stay away from him at all costs.

`Sweet does not have the intellectual capacity or the temperament to be on the bench. He doesn’t understand black letter law.

He has no business being a Judge. He has no temperament for the bench. His ego is too big, he is unable or unwilling to apply the law unless it fits with his preconceived notion of what should happen. He is unwilling or (more likely) unable to follow even mildly complicated fact patterns. If you are lucky he will be on your side and there is nothing he won't do for you, but the risk is he won't and he does not care about the law, so you are just screwed... until you appeal him. (the good news is he is very easy to overturn on appeal). Don't take the chance 170.6 this guy!

Does not have intellectual or the temperament to be a judge. This is what happens when political connections gets you the job,

Biased against women lawyers.

I found Judge Sweet rather pompous and arrogant, especially considering his 4.1 rating on this website. I did find him very generous with my property, allowing my serial squatter tenant another twenty days of free rent and utilities. I've alreadysheltered her for 1/2 year through Covid. I think Sweet's salary would be better spent on shelters.
