I totally agree with the comments posted from March 2025. Total Arrogance. I have no use for this guy. He acts like he is the smartest person in the room and he is above everybody. He is a two faced person. Monterey County can do better than this guy, Culver, and Butler. All bad.

NO HONOR! The most biased judge I have ever seen with serious control issues who is nothing more than a petty tyrant. He's a rumor monger who is obviously engaged in exparte discussions about active cases. Clearly someone who was picked on in school who is now overcompensating with his newfound authority. For instance, I have seen him chastise in-custody defendants for involuntary bodily functions like coughing or yawning too loudly. No respect for defense attorneys either. For example, I have seen him order a defense attorney present FOR A SETTING DATE NO LESS over the attorney's objection due to a schedule conflict. Then when that attorney has to have someone appear for them due to the schedule conflict the attorney announced when it was set, he abuses his petty power by filing an OSC against the attorney. PAPER THIS GUY IF YOU WANT A FAIR PROCEEDING!

For parents who are having him for a custody battle prepare to have 50/50. This judge doesn’t care if your child is in danger, if the other parent doesn’t provide, if the parent doesn’t comply with a mediation order, if there is physical and verbal abuse, you don’t have to have proper communication with the other parent, you’re allowed to lie in his court room and you don’t have to sober when around your child because none of that matters according to him.

I neither like nor respect him as a man. He has serious trust and credibility issues. He is a person that I want to have absolutely no interaction with at any level and forum. If I see him at a restaurant, I will walk out and leave. I would not acknowledge him anywhere or dignify his presence.

Judge Liu is an excellent Judge. He always seems to make the correct decision. He is very fair, and he is very intelligent. He's one of the best Judges I've ever met. You can always count on Judge Liu being prepared. Thank you Judge Liu for working so hard and caring so much!

Judge Liu clearly has no grasp of family law. He is dedicated to giving Fathers 50/50 custody when it isn’t deserved. He insists that parents communicate when it’s obvious that they either can’t or won’t. He obviously cannot make the difficult judgements and rulings that are often required in Family Law Court. He relies on his support staff to make decisions because he lacks the experience. He needs to be replaced.
