Judge Lavin is an able and even-handed jurist. He will read the briefs, read the cases, and give lawyers a fair opportunity to change his mind at oral arguments. He is good on evidence in trial. He runs a tight ship and is efficient. He can be a bit harsh at times but that's a judge's prerogative. Overall, Judge Lavin possesses the skills and temperment necessary to effectuate real justice. His heart seems in it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him tapped for the federal bench.
