Judge Major is what you call tough but fair.
Prejudges civil cases and seems to not grasp the complexity of civil litigation, much less the motivations behind the tactics.
Smart, fair, no nonsense Judge. Handles courtroom with firm hand. Expects both sides to be prepared and professional. Doesn't take any BS from either side.
Knows almost nothing about civil rights litigation and tends to have a chip on her shoulder about it. Do not disagree with her or correct her on the law even if she is way off.
Former criminal prosecutor who has not yet grasped the subtleties of civil litigation, particularly the dynamics of settlement discussions and leverage points. But she is smart and has improved greatly since taking the bench.
Magistrate Judge Major is super-smart and super-efficient. An impressive magistrate.
