She has been on the Law and Motion calendar for about year which is sufficient time to formulate a well informed opinion. She deviates from the law intentionally when she sees a result that she wants. In other words, going in front of her is like going to Vegas sitting at the craps table. She is arbitrary, but better than Judge Quinn who is even worst. If Van Aken is sitting in Law and Motion as an audition for the Court of Appeal, the Governor and his judicial appointments secretary should look at this judge with caution. You don't want someone legislating from the bench. Instead you want someone that will follow the law where litigants and their lawyers can reasonably predict an outcome by using legal precedent such as reported cases as well as statutes.

The few times I appeared in her Dept 301 Law and Motion, she appeared to be a fantastic judge.

The few times I appeared in her Dept 301 Law and Motion, she appeared to be a fantastic judge. She appeared to listen to your arguments and will give you a fair chance to change an adverse tentative ruling. Hope she keeps up the good work.
