He volunteered to act as a settlement judge in a land use case. Over the course of 8 hours, during which he took breaks to call criminal cases, he creatively settled the case. Extremely patient. Established reservoir of goodwill and trust with litigants. Outstanding jurist.

He's a treasure. Kind, humble, smart and fair. Reads everything. Will never remand defendants for technical probation violations. He looks past behavioral symptoms, and attempts to understand, and then address, causes of behavior. Wish mental health diversion cases could be calendared in his court.
