The Judge does not recognize views other than the ones he adopts as valid. If you’re on the losing side of an order, be prepared for him to call your position “frivolous.” There is no such thing as good faith disagreement on unsettled law with this judge. He also will set hearings less than a week out, and only notify counsel by mailed order. If you’re on the other side of the state, it is not uncommon to get notice of the hearing the day before, and be expected to make a 3.5+ hour cross-state drive the next day for a 15 minute hearing. He’s also on the board of bar examiners in our state, which, given his demagogical temperament, makes me feel horrible for bar takers.
