This judge needs to be approached asap - he cost me thousands of dollars - entertained and signed my child away with 0 evidence 0 due process and 0 consideration to the children all based on heresy and fabricated lies and judging me based on my past instead of looking at actions and the facts. It is truly amazing how he can get away with breaking basic rights and hurting the lives of many children.

It's disheartening to witness the impact of Judge Harkin's decisions on families. As a sitting judge, his role should be to ensure fairness and compassion, particularly when it comes to children and family matters. However, his apparent bias and lack of empathy are causing more harm than good. A judge who abuses their power and disregards the well-being of families does not deserve to hold such a crucial position. Judge Harkin is biased and a bully, making extremely rash and harsh decisions breaking up families. He is a very punishing judge and very ineffective in family preservation. He has a problem seeming to enjoy removing young children which is very traumatic and harmful to the very children he is supposed to be protecting.

~ For a sitting judge to use discrimination and fail to follow the code of conduct. The abuse of power. Arrogant and I know multiple families in different situations where he used discrimination and failed to allow them to defend themselves. Judge Harkin is a disgrace to the court system. He should not be allowed to rule. He is disrespectful, downright nasty. Honorable? That’s a joke. A man without scruples, morals or compassion.

Judge Harkin is an excellent judge who moves his cases along and sees through charades that some litigants try to pull off. He has been around a long time and cuts to the chase. I have always known him to be fair and outspoken. I have appeared on many cases before him and I have always been treated fairly. That he is discriminatory against women, is bull. He has a female law clerk that he treats with the utmost respect. I have never seen him disrespect anyone in the courtroom. Some litigants don't like being called out on their drama. If a litigant is a substance abuser, he tries to give him/her a fair shot, time for rehab, he gives litigants a chance.

No one ever wants to be in court and if you are there there is an issue to be resolved. The judge has a very difficult job and many people will experience very uncomfortable situations. Judge Harkin has the responsibility to use laws to remedy the issues for every family because we were unable to solve the issues ourselves.He has a reputation as the harshest Judge in the Court, and I see it as a strength necessary to control the people that are truly on need of help. Anyone that has achieved a seat on a judges bench is a very highly functioning self actualizing individual, be more understanding of the necessity and function of his role as it relates to your families issues that are so escalated that you have found yourself sitting in a court.

Harkin is a disgrace. We have had the same experience as the below posters. Would not ever let my husband speak. Threatened to throw him in jail numerous times over false accusations of violating a visitation order, that had not been heard at a trial yet, made by a known drug addict who lost custody of all of her children. Mother was allowed to either never show up to court or show up late and waste everyone's time with no consequences ever. She was also allowed to violate an order for forensic evaluation numerous times. Then when the evaluation was completed he didn't even read it and we would have to pay 2 grand to have this woman testify that her report says the mother is a lunatic and potential child abuser. He had a bias even before a trial and we were told by our lawyer we would most likely lose our case because of it. So we were backed into a corner to settle with a mother who should never have a child under her care. I was told by a lawyer that knows him he has a thing for helping drug addict mothers. Attorney for children, Darrelle Cairo, calls the shots in his courtroom if she's been appointed to the case. Harkin does not care about children that are being mentally and emotionally abused by a parent. He's on an ego trip, and if you question him, he'll make sure your case isn't heard fairly. He needs to go!
