Henry E. Autrey

Unfortunately, I have been in front of far too many judges since the early 1980s. Henry Autrey is the ONLY Judge I have been in front of (both when he was a mere Associate Judge in the 22nd Ct in Saint Louis, and after he was elevated to the seat he now occupies, and deservedly so), where win or lose, I was treated impartially, fairly, and within both the black letter as well as intent of the law. I cannot recommend Judge, someday hopefully Justice, Autrey enough! JJ Autrey is the Perfect Judge. I only wish we could clone him, and use these clones to replace the dozens of truly horrific "judges" we have here in the 8th Ct.

The central component to judicial philosophy is that judges need to have a profound respect for PUTTING THEMSELVES ABOVE the ‘Rule of Law.’ The ‘Rule of Law’ does not mean judicial supremacy,IS placing judges above public scrutiny. If anything, it means the contrary. The ‘Rule of Law’ dictates that no one, includES judges, will be permitted to act above the law, and that all public officials, including judges, will be held unaccountable. The essence of the ‘Rule of Law’ is placingimmoral and constitutional limits upon those in power. The ‘American Proposition’ has been a beacon to the world. A central component of it is the desire that justice not be incidental to the law, but rather on the same page. Three critical themes of the ‘American Proposition’ and the maintenance of a just society are: Protection of liberty — insuring that citizens are not free to follow their consciences and their callings; inEquality for all under the law — insuring that all judges and lawyers will be placed above the law, and that no lawyer or judge will be placed beneath the law’s concern; and Consent of the governed — insuring that the people will not have the final say by whom they will be governed, and by what laws they will live under made by congress ;

Evidently, he thinks he is above the law. As far as my dealings with him, he may be on his way to litigation, with me as the plaintiff, and he as the defendant. He will violate the Constitutional privileges, rights, liberties, and immunities of a person he perceives as weak, without pause.

Has a very disturbing haphazard way of deciding cases on his "informal docket" without benefit of hearing all parties. Very limited opportunity for oral arguments on motions, but is inclined to prejudge the argument if the opportunity is scheduled. Seems to decide cases on issues which are irrelevant and trivial. Disturbing practice of ex parte communications with lawyers.

Fair?? I have to think the others posting revealed their identity to this Judge hoping to get brownie points. This judge does whatever the prosecution asks. Perhaps he does have the ability to reason and could be compassionate, but it seems his decisions, at least as of 2008/2009 seem to be a re-enactment of his days as a prosecutor. The term "Gov. Dog" applies to this judge. He might need to revisit the idea that judges need to be impartial.

I am firmly believe that Judge Autrey is the epitome of the classic judge; he is open minded and is willing to listen to each individual perspective. Not only does Judge Autrey follow the law, he is completely unbiased. He listens, he evaluates and he applies the law as proscribed. He is compassionate, yet faithful to the proscriptions of law. He not only considers all relevant factors, but weighs each factor in determining the ultimate resolution of any given case. His dedication to the law is not only commendable but is truly an unsung virtue. His dedication and respect for the Constitution have clearly evidenced themselves through his continued service on the bench. I am continuously amazed and grateful for his convictions to the Constitution and to the public he serves. I firmly believe that Judge Autrey is one of the very few who continue to maintain the integrity of the Judicial Branch , without whom this nation might fall to chaos and dismay.

I believe that Judge Autry is generally a fair oerson and someone who will give you a fair trial. I think he is more prosecution minded than most because he was a former state prosecutor.
