Pompous and full of himself. Thinks he knows it all and is one of the worst in legal acumen and judgment in civil cases. He ignores the record and could care less. He has no empathy for those whose lives he ruins with his silly rulings. His top priority is his golf or tennis schedule so he can maintain his tan.

Judge Robertson on Senior Status now, and while a former civil rights lawyer who worked for integration in the South and a Clinton appointee, has become very conservative. He is deferential to the government even when it makes absurd arguments, and is not so respectful to counsel. However, in front of the jury, he is much more polite. He does have a fine quality: respect for a jury verdicts, although he seems to have fewer and fewer as he has gotten older. He seems to have secured very good clerks from what DC practitioners have observed. Listen closely to what he says, and answer directly when he asks questions. His civil rights background and his passion for the rights of the individual can be sparked with your hard work and sincerity.

Judge Robertson was extremely nice, supportive, friendly, listened closely to what I had to say, didn't try to rush me when I was speaking, explained his concerns to me. Clearly took what I had to say into consideration in his decisionmaking process. He left me with the feeling I would get a fair shake in his courtroom, win, lose or draw.

A huge disappointment. He is pro-government in civil cases and displays his bias against those who sue the government both in comments from the bench and in written opinions. Slipshod and messy in his legal reasoning, he regularly denies litigants discovery by granting summary judgment without any opportunity for discovery. His manner is gruff. He does not treat litigants fairly.

Judge Robertson is as smart and capable as they come. He is even-handed and fair to both sides. He treats all parties, attorneys, witnesses and jurors with the utmost respect. His opinions are to the point and clear without being plagued with unnecessary legal flourishes.
