Jed S. Rakoff

He issues a lot of decisions that are designed to come off as cerebral and thought provoking, but are just wrong or a rejection of the existing law. He has a habit of picking a side and then running with it – an approach that really doesn't work well for a federal judge. He's a sub-par judge.

Lots of whiners on here, and Judge Rakoff can be a screamer and inflexible, but he's a great guy and a thoughtful judge. I'll say this: if you don't want to get abused by him, maybe be a better lawyer?

He is really learned and well read however imposes his learning on one side or the other; rarely both; seems to pick favorites quickly and can explode in anger in a nano-second

Easily the most arrogant, disrespectful judge in the Southern District. He acts like he got beat up a lot as a kid, and is now going to get even with everyone for it. The two words that described the man best are "gutless coward."
