Judge Kay appeared more interested in clearing cases quickly rather than listening to the case in front of him. It was clear that he had not done any preparatory work on the case. The prosecutor can sit back and let Judge Kay essentially prosecute the case while he reminds the defendant of how much time the case is taking. When the defense was presented, Judge Kay kept interrupting (anything else?) and he ruled on evidence admissibility before allowing the defendant to argue why it should be admissible. Whatever the judge's intent, he made it appear that he already decided the case before the defendant could present it and was more interested in clearing his docket than considering any merit the case may have had.
