John Michael Maloney

Recently tried a dui jury case in front of Judge Maloney. He was pleasant demonstrated a good sense of humor. Charmed the jury. His voir dire process of having the jurors out of the courtroom while dealing with voir dire responses worked very well. He sustained my objections when he should but denied those that were not. He was not afraid to grant motions at the conclusion of the case to remove the counts the state failed to prove.

Utterly lacking in critical thinking skills, and a robust knowledge of the law, he substitutes bullying and intimidation. Reasoning through a case after listening to the evidence is not part of his repertoire.

I sat on a jury before Judge Maloney in a civil action. His courtroom demeanor, dealings with the jury, attorneys and parties was terrific. Plus he kept things moving. Great Judge

Judge John Maloney's failed attempts at becoming the State's Attorney for PG County apparantly have not stopped him from failing as a judge. He has held entire hearings without parties present, made up facts and scenarios--on the record, but feels as if his allegiance to MD politicians will allow his legacy as a judge to remain unscathed. As an ASA in PG County he and the then State's Attorney for PG County somehow got a judge to testify as a witness and the gaslighted the judge by screaming he can't preside over the matter and be a witness at the same time. The chief judge allowed it and the Washington Post wrote about it. However, he is still qualified to now be a judge?!??? Horrible Judge. Very disrespectful and unfair during trial. He violated my Fourteenth Amendment Right by hiding evidence from the jury during the trial on two separate occasions. It is important for Judges to act in accordance with the law and ethical standards to ensure that justice is served in every case. Judges are held to high ethical standards, including impartiality and avoiding the appearance of impropriety. Hiding evidence from the jury could be seen as a violation of these standards.

Judge Maloney was difficult relative to scheduling witnesses and expressed surprise that I was able to reschedule an important witness. He favored plaintiff. He shouted at my witness in front of the jury.
