Judge Sedwick appreciates a good sense of humor, as his is excellent. On the other hand, he does not like spending time in court, and prefers concentrating on written submissions, which he reads with a fine tooth comb and thinks about carefully well in advance of courtroom proceedings. My sense of him is that courtroom proceedings are only a ceremonious way of confirming what has already been argued, although he is clearly a person with an open, humanitarian mind who can be pursuaded by oral argument.

Judge Sedwick was recently reversed on his suppresion of evidence after traffic stop. 9th Circuit reversed him, citing him using old precendent and not using more up-to-date 9th Circuit cases and Supreme Court case (US v. Turvin (06-30551))

Judge Sedwick dismissed a case against a completely disabled veteran named John Mitchell by allowing the Patriot Act US Attorney for Alaska Nelson Cohen to submit fraudulent evidence and not permit Mr. Mitchell's attorney to have access to the same evidence. Judge Sedwick also cancelled a hearing he had scheduled the day before and refused to reschedule it. It became apparent that Judge Sedwick was prejudiced in favor of the government and against a 100%-service-connected disabled veteran seeking justice.
