Extremely pro defense. Does not have a good understanding of civil litigation.

A biased, prejudiced judge that does not understand or know civil litigation. If you have any civil case, I would recommend immediately getting rid of Judge Skiles. The only reason he’s likely been able to stay on the bench is because he ran unopposed in the last election. I agree with all the other comments. On top of that, he’s racist against African Americans. During our trial, in front of the jury when our expert treating surgeon was testifying and during my questioning he yelled at me and threatened that he will hold me in contempt and sanction me for asking the court reporter to be present at a sidebar. He then, threatened me again, stating that I had two options: continue questioning the doctor, or the doctor will be dismissed. He then, dismissed the doctor in front of the jury. His rulings were all for the City because he used to work for the City and also was a legal advisor for the police department. He intentionally wanted to make sure an African American from the community of Fresno would not get a fair trial. He also is prejudiced against attorneys who are not from Fresno. He also would not allow demonstrative evidence to be used during the trial. You will certainly not get a fair and impartial trial with judge Skiles. I have transcripts that I am willing to share. Under no circumstance would I recommend keeping judge Skiles. He is unfit. Biased. And prejudiced. Don’t let anything else fool you. Ding him and save yourself and your client.

` 100 percent on defense side. sadly. he does not read English either. had he been able to, he would know how to read a statute and apply the law. I am convinced of this. he also does not have. oral arguments. really>? because he doesn't have the brain power to actually understand complex arguments. sanctions? sure why not. and no opportunity to be heard. oh yes, this is going to the appellet court soon as this case is over.

Very poor temperament for a judge. Sadly he is very biased and clearly favors the defense. He does not have a clear handle on civil litigation and frankly has no business being on the civil bench. It is unfortunate that he holds peoples important matters in his hands. Please send him to Small Claims!

Judge Skiles has little to no experience as a civil litigator and it shows 100%. I agree with the other reviewer that he has no business on the civil bench. It is only because of Fresno County's dearth of qualified civil judges that he made it there. He attempts to follow the codes but he has no practical experience to inform his discretion. He also tends by nature to be very one-sided in his rulings. Hard pass on this one if you can. Have your 170.6 ready.
