Judge Tomkins is a very thorough, thoughtful judge.

Judge Tomkins is a very thorough, thoughtful judge. His background as an appellate clerk comes through very clearly in his orders. You won’t find a single attorney that complains about how he writes and considers issues. He has been the most professional and compassionate judge I have encountered.

This judge hates anyone pro-se and mocks litigants.

This judge hates anyone pro-se and mocks litigants. I sat in on a hearing of a mother being physically beat on by the child’s dad AND his family. This judge humiliated her and told the dad he did a good job withholding the kid for “safety reasons” while the guy’s sister physically attacked the mom in a daycare parking lot. He’s gruesome and heartless and doesn’t actually care about safety. He’s won’t even schedule hearings for pro-se litigants knowing JAWS require an attorney bar number. He won’t reassign things to better judges, he just lets things sit. Going in front of this judge without wads of money and a pricy attorney is your worse mistake. I’m surprised he hasn’t been reprimanded.

Newer judge with no background related to the cases he is judging.

Newer judge with no background related to the cases he is judging. His bias, inexperience and ignorance will harm people and keep the appellate court busy for those who can afford it.

Judge Tompkins has an incredible legal mind. He’s fair and maintains great control over his courtroom with an even demeanor. He is thorough in his fact finding, patient, and extraordinary thoughtful in his judgments.
