I have a great deal of respect for the Honorable Kenneth Hoyt. He is slow of step but sure of foot, an honest Southern Gentleman that calls them like he see's them.

I agree with the previous comments about his laziness and lack of intellect. He never writes memorandums explaining his decisions with citations to authorities and discussion. Might as well be a Texas state court judge the way handles his cases. I have had over 6 cases in his court in the last 2-3 years but I have never even seen him once(he holds very short scheduling conferences over the phone). I would not be surprised if he is only in the courthouse less than 20 hours a week.

Absolutely horrible lazy judge. Rules based on mood versus merit. Demonstrated clear bias in favor of party represented by former law clerk. A kindergarten teacher understands fairness better than him.

Fairest judge In the district. Treats everyone with dignity and respect, even when people disrespect him. Not afraid to make tough decisions. Not the most scholarly judge, but will listen to the law and allow himself to be educated. Can be trusted.

Issued numerous Orders without citing to any legal authority. Very "shoot from the hip" style with rulings. Stay away

Prior evaluator was right -- a nice guy, but not very bright. Fails to grasp very basic legal issues.

It is a pleasure to try a case in his court. Judge Hoyt is very thorough in his voir dire. He shows amazing patience with lawyers -- esp. those who want to argue over one of his evidentiary rulings. He does not follow 5th Cir case law in lockstep -- particularly when they run contrary to S.Ct. precedents.

Nice guy with a good sense of humor but not very bright and usually completely unprepared. Likes to do hearings, and make rulings, without a record and this can lead to real problems when he doesn't remember what he did or why he did it.

Nice guy, but not very smart...if civil issue is complex, you should be concerned. Also has a reputation for having racial bias towards black defendants
