I have no idea who these other lawyers are referring to because it is NOT the judge Knill I was before for over 2 years. Just about every review here is wrong. I have litigated civil cases for over 40 years. I know that it is my job to educate a judge on nuanced issues and to convince a judge to change a tentative decision if she missed something. This judge gives you all the time you need for argument. She is patient, diligent, and makes an excellent record. I was able to watch over 20 law and motion calendars she presided over and on each, I found myself nodding in agreement at her rulings. Her demeanor is respectful, but she does not tolerate fools lightly. Do your homework, be prepared, and she is the judge you want. Remember, when selecting a judge, all you want is fair. This is a fair judge that I would love to try more cases in front of.

170.6 immediately. I have never encountered such an unreasonable judge in my nearly 10 years of practicing civil litigation. She refused to grant our first request for a 6-month trial continuance alleging we had already received a previous continuance (wrong!). The parties filed stipulations and ex parte applications requesting a continuance because we were scheduled for mediation. She granted a ONE MONTH trial continuance causing the parties to have to cancel mediation, incur cancellation fees, and prevented Plaintiff from properly preparing for trial, including getting a second continuance to file a motion for terminating sanctions. The worst judge who truly does not hold up the right to a fair trial.

The Hon. Kimberly Knill lacks basic knowledge of the law and, more significantly, lacks the ability to correctly interpret statutes.

File 170.6 as soon as you are assigned to her department. She was an appellate atty. and never practiced as a trial atty. She is rude to plaintiff and defense attys alike. I guess she thinks that trial attys. only have 1 file and refuses to acknowledge they may have calendar conflicts.

I’ve appeared in front of many judges at the Central Justice Center and have had all very respectable Judges and have in turn been shown patience and the upmost respect by all until appearing before Honorable Judge Kimberly Knill. The disrespect she shows me is merely the icing on the cake of having my constitutional rights violated by her. If you file a motion for reconsideration of your constitutional rights she’s violated you can guarantee it will be denied. Without even a single warning she will sanction you in an ex-parte hearing violating your right of due process. You will need to keep her informed of what your rights are and that she specifically needs to honor them. I cannot express how biased she is in a case with any self represented litigant. I’m appearing in her courtroom after having a man on parole for lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14 years old force entry into my home tackling me on top of my two year old son and breaking my teeth while my son was screaming in terror. At the time this felon was my next door neighbor and following this crime sold his home to immediate family members of my arresting agency. After him filing a civil lawsuit against me, I want justice for my family but have known from the first time appearing in front of Honorable Judge Kimberly Knill that I will never have a fair trial in her courtroom. I filed a motion for her to recuse days after my first appearance and she denied it as untimely. She even denies my opposition to motions on calendar when I’m filing almost a month before the hearings. CCP is not even on the radar in her courtroom. It’s like the Wild West in her courtroom, if you’re representing yourself you can expect her to hang you high (possibly in an ex-parte hearing during your first appearance).
