Loren Baily-Schiffman

I have practiced law for over 40 years and have been before mostly excellent judges, and Judge Baily Schiffman was by far the worst ever. She had no understanding of the concept of due process or competent evidence. Being in her courtroom was a truly frightening experience.

In all my years of practicing law I have never met a worse judge. She does not judge but decides the case in favor of the plaintiff before any evidence. It or she is by far the worst judge I have ever appeared before in all my years. No right to be a judge because you will not get justice in her courtroom. Literally an embarrassment to the judges in Kings County.

I appeared before this Judge on her last day on the Bench. She was nothing but courteous, professional and kind. She understood the matter and helped the parties achieve resolution.

I just wanted to offer another opinion. I do almost exclusively plaintiff's side litigation/appeals. In every encounter I've had with Justice Baily-Schiffman, she has been diligent, professional and kind; familiar with the motion papers and the law. I have never walked out of that courtroom feeling like she was not trying at all times to follow the law and to reach a just and reasonable outcome. Of course, I realize that everyone has an "off" day, but my experiences with this jurist have always been pleasant.

This judge doesn’t even try to hide her disdain of plaintiffs. She is unprofessional and unworthy of sitting on the bench. She is the worst judge I’ve ever encountered in civil litigation - due to her lack of civility and general bias against plaintiffs.

Have been before J. Baily-Schiffman as a medical malpractice defense attorney. It was apparent she was familiar with the papers prior to arguments, rather than relying on oral arguments as a means of avoiding reading them (as some lazy judges tend to do). Evidenced a solid understanding of the underlying law and has a no-nonsense attitude that can comes across as impatience if you are fool enough to come before her unprepared or with an unsupported position. But, nobody has time for that anyway. I look forward to having more cases before her as the courts reopen.
