Lynne M. Hobbs

I am an out of county attorney and had the opportunity to observe and appear before Judge Hobbs for a half day. I had several hearings on calendar that morning, on the 8:30 and 10 a.m. calendars [all same case]) . She heard a lot of matters that morning, and I observed her to focus on the issues while being patient, scholarly, decisive, and with good humor when appropriate. It was a pleasure to appear before her.

This judge is racist and incompetent. She allowed one of the most corrupt and malfeasant eviction attorneys in the state bring an illegal eviction against a disabled woman in several protected classes under nuisance during a protected period in LA city and county when this specific loophole is forbidden. She allowed a mountain of inadmissible, fabricated evidence to be admitted and completely disregarded current laws that were in place to protect fragile renters affected by the pandemic. As a direct result of her incompetence I was thrown out on the street made homeless and wasn't even allowed to retrieve my heart medication and critical life saving mess and identification. I was then held up at gunpoint sleeping in my car and almost died. The landlords attorney Wayne Abb hired a man to stalk and threaten me after the judgement saying I'd be killed if I continued to Appeal, and the FBI got involved when this man rear ended me in my car on the freeway at 62 miles an hour on a crowded freeway with children in surrounding cars. It's a miracle I didn't die or harm others. He stalked and threatened me for nearly 8 hours. This judge should step down. She's a racist with blatant disregard for people's lives and the law.

Probably the worst judge in LA County. She is rude and will yell at you if she does not like your case. She will not take the time to educate herself. I argued a motion involving complex procedure and application of several statutes. I identified the statutes by number. She accused me of "throwing a bunch of numbers" at her. She also refused to review binding precedent which was directly contrary to her ruling. Stay away if you can.
