This judge is attentive, well-prepared, and keeps lawyers on their toes! My client felt that he was treated fairly and, regardless of the verdict, that he had received a full opportunity to be heard. Judge Howard is a tremendous asset to the federal judiciary!
Truly one of the great judges. No nonsense, yet allows a full hearing. My client was awed; he left the courtroom commenting to me that, no matter what the ruling, he felt he had received a full and fair hearing. My advice is to be prepared as Judge Howard will certainly be!
Judge Howard is what all judges should be: fair and good-natured. He has plenty of common sense, and he is willing to let you try your case. While he expects preparation, he also helps young practioners find their footing during trials. Juries and clients love him. He also has a good "sixth sense" about the right legal answer, as well as an uncanny ability to get to the true center of what others would characterize as an unduly complex legal dispute.
