Maria Andrea Davalos

Appeared for an unopposed discovery motion. She started making unnecessary judicial comments about our discovery requests and exhibits. I really felt she came in with a bias against us. Though she did grant our motion, she seemed to scrutinize the motion and our exhibits as if she was fishing to find a reason to deny our motion. I've appeared on similar motions with other judges and we did not face the scrutiny that she dished out on this case nor subject to judicial comments as she made. She could not find a reason to rule against and I felt she was disappointed in not being able to a reason rule against us.

She surprised me - she fully reviewed every detail of debt collection case I was defending and ruled for me, and went beyond to give my client relief on her own motion (she looked at the default judgment entered 12 years prior.) I never thought to do that. I knew her from crim court and have always looked forward to appearing before her. Fair, thorough, well prepared. Nuff said.
