Excellent judge. Very smart, very hardworking, and will independently follow issues with rigor even when counsel before him do not. Does not suffer fools gladly. Demands that prosecutors meet their professional and ethical obligations in a way that not enough other jurists do. At the same time, he can be a tough sentencer, although he has a lighter touch in dealing with defendants from troubled or deprived backgrounds.

By far the smartest judge I have ever appeared in front of. He is a former first assistant us attorney who absolutely abhors even the whiff of prosecutorial misconduct. He demands much from attorneys but gives much in return.
