I've been in front of Judge Pate 10+ times in the past 2-3 years. I consider his courtroom a very fair and predictable forum to handle a case, either criminal or civil. He's respectful of litigants, keeps the docket moving, and recognizes that each defendant in a criminal case may have different incentives and challenges. I consider him one of the top 10 judges in the state that I have appeared in front of.
