Michele E. Flurer

This is an activist conservative judge. She does not follow the law, the rules, case law, or the civil code. She does not follow the cannons of judicial conduct. She is full or her self. She doesn't read the papers. She ignores evidence. She has a mean demeanor.

I have been a litigator since 1982 and I have seldom come across a judge who matches Judge Flurer in terms of demeanor, conscientiousness, and fairness. I have knowledge of the case in which two reviewers gave her very poor reviews. Those reviews are nonsensical.

This judge proudly refuses to follow CCP and the law. She pretends to be smart and industrious when in fact she does not read cases and makes up her mind based on her politics, she is a Republican conservative judge.

If you are a member of any minority group or receive public assistance, I strongly urge you to exercise your right to a 170.6 peremptory challenge immediately. Judge Michele Flurer has demonstrated a troubling lack of understanding and application of the law. During a settlement conference, she openly questioned how individuals who own property or drive a Lexus could possibly qualify for a fee waiver—an irrelevant and inappropriate inquiry that reveals bias and a fundamental misunderstanding of the law.

Dear Judge Flurer, I have been a Civil Litigator since 1986, well over 30 years, and have tried my fair share of cases (and I am a member of ABOTA). Just wanted to say that in all my years I have had only one Judge as good as you, starting with your great judicial temperament, intelligence, evenhandedness, case management, and superb ability to handle disputes where you adroitly seemingly satisfy both parties so as to shrewdly avoid an appellate issue regarding that particular dispute. Arnie did our Court system a great service when he appointed you. A trial lawyer’s incredibly difficult and stressful job is made a bit easier when he or she is treated fairly and professionally (and a bit compassionately) by the trial judge as we are often overwhelmed by the rigors of trial. Not to mention the above and beyond work ethic that you display: All I want to do is surf and drink beer, not work as hard as I see you working. Anyway, many thanks on behalf of all trial lawyers who have had, and will have the pleasure of having you serve as their trial judge. Absolutely top notch trial judge. Knows what she's doing and does it well and keeps it moving - knows the law and applies it whichever way it's gonna shake out. If I had any constructive criticism, it would be that she favors the sidebar maybe a little too much - some calls are clear and should just be made on the spot. She conducted a settlement conference the day before our trial started and made a tremendous and creative effort to resolve an un-resolveable case.
