Mitchell D. Dembin

I had an Early Neutral Evaluation before Judge Dembin, and he was very fair, did a great job of explaining the merits of the parties' positions, and was able to effectuate a settlement that appeared to be impossible before the hearing (as one of the parties had entirely unreasonable settlement expectations before the hearing). He seemed very well prepared for the hearing, and offered his opinions on the merits of the case without coming off as pushy to the parties to settle. He also has a great sense of humor and is much less stuffy than most federal judges, which made the whole process much less painful. I would certainly not mind getting another case assigned to him.

I was very impressed with Judge Dembin. He is prompt with hearings and rulings. Always well-prepared and gives you his thoughts before oral argument, so you can address his points. I was surprised to see someone state that he was rude, since he is about the most congenial magistrate I've encountered.

I've found Judge Dembin to be very well prepared for hearings. He reads the papers, takes the time to study the law cited and, by the time of the hearing, he gives you his thoughts, so you can argue to the points he has concerns about. He is very pleasant, but not afraid to bring down the hammer on parties when needed.

He's not a bad guy, he's just not the greatest judge. Maybe he'll get better with time. He made some wacky rulings on motions to compel.

A good, solid judge. I absolutely LOVE how he handles motions: You file paperwork and he has a ruling within a week. On the case I had with him, he was fair and even-tempered.

BIASED. Does not appear to understand proper role as a Magistrate. Does not check facts. Does not understand complex litigation. Snarky, rude and not at all judicious. He is not cut out for this work. WORST Magistrate I have ever encountered in the area of unbiased trial preparation.
