Nancy Bannon

I've tried two cases before Judge Bannon. All of her rulings were upheld on appeal. She doesn't tolerate nonsense in the courtroom, but I found her fair and knowledgeable. She is by no means the best judge I've ever appeared in front of in my 45 years of practicing law, but she is better than average.

The absolute worse judge I have encountered in a several decades long practice. I have read the harsh analysis provided by my colleagues below and could not agree more. I actually felt that she either was inebriated or under medication when she was addressing the issues before her. And any political organization that supports her re-election should be held publicly accountable. An absolute disgrace!!

The absolute worst judge I have ever encountered in NY Supreme. She is unintelligent, abusive and lacks even a basic understanding of the law and the facts of cases before her. It is truly sad there no mechanism to remove a judge like this from the bench. It makes me sick and ashamed to have to appear before such a tyrant and lunatic of a jurist. When she does appear, she seems to have no idea what is going on at any given moment in the case that is being conferenced before her. She is childish, rude, and wildly incompetent. She styles herself as a type of Judge Judy, although she is NOT entertaining, will never have a TV show nor will she live in a mansion. She is delusional and toxic. Expect only abuse and chaos, as justice, or even sanity, are not words in her vocabulary. I had wondered at times whether she was even sober or properly medicated during court appearances, as she is just THAT bad.

We were assigned to Judge Bannon for a malpractice trial last year. We looked up her ratings and they were appalling and thought that she couldn’t be this bad. She was every bit as terrible as she has been described. honestly, you would have to be in her courtroom to experience the depth of her lack of respect, knowledge and manner. it was shocking and was one of the worst experiences in our lives. We settled as we couldn’t stand being in her presence and had multiple grounds for a mistrial. She has no business being on any court bench. She is a travesty as a judge and should be removed. A sick person.

Justice Bannon is the worst judge I have appeared before in my 40plus years of trying cases. She is nasty to lawyers and parties, does not know the law and does not want to be educated. She is also lazy and expects the parties to do her work for her. If she does not like your client or your case, she will make it impossible for you to get your evidence in because she will sustain every objection, regardless of how ridiculous it is. She is a disgrace to the bench.

One of the two or three worst judges I have appeared before in well over 30 years of practice. Leaving aside her rude and utterly unprofessional attitude and conduct, What is most dangerous about this justice is that she regards herself unbound by the law. A tyrant who should not be tolerated. Raises the question, is there any oversight of state court justices in New York? Well, is there? Q

There are many excellent judges in this court, unfortunately, this is not one of them. She has the innate knowledge to be an excellent judge, but somehow that knowledge is negated by whatever demons she is fighting personally. Her temperament, objectivity and ability to be rational and even handed are horrible. She rants and rages without reason and fails to listen to her least favorite side. I pity any lawyer who has to appear before her.

Insulting. Demeaning. Rude. I pity any lawyer that as to appear before her. She is anything but unbiased in her attitude on the bench. She should be removed as totally unfair and rude to lawyers. Would not let me argue, and proceeded to lecture me. And I did not even get a CLE credit!
