I never imagined that he would misrepresent the evidence to support his agenda. But that is what he did. He doesn't care about the facts -- just makes up his mind who he will support and then he amasses evidence (sometimes false evidence) to support his position.

I personally have sat in on multiple cases with Judge Castel as the judge on the bench and he is one of the worst pro government judges that I’ve seen out of the multiple federal and state judges I’ve dealt with wether in trial or just for a hearing. His mind is made up long before you walk into the court room and he is not hesitant to show how bias he is in particular cases especially criminal cases. If you go before this judge and are innocent you better hope to be found innocent on all charges or Judge Castel will throw the book guidelines at you full force going way above the the normal sentencing guidelines to make up as if you were found guilty on the worse of charges. And if your acquitted on certain charges, He does not care his bias mindset is that if he thinks you’re guilty he does not care what the jury’s final conclusion is he will make sure to have the last say in every case and if he doesn’t like the situation or what the outcome was 10 out of 10 times he always goes pro government. If your representing your client before this judge you better hope for the best out come of finding your client 100% innocent of all charges or he will take his anger and bias mindset out on your client and excuse my language but will screw your client over the best that he can to ruin there life even if that client truly is innocent he does not care. He’s big on taking whatever the government says your accused of and believing it without any true or justified evidence to support there claims. It’s very sad to see someone with such respected power, abuse it in the manner that he does going against many of your constitutional rights. And the worst part is there’s almost nothing you can do about it to fight his final verdict because many of these federal court judges and circuits do not want to step on each others toe’s to go against one another’s decisions even if they know what took place was very wrong and they would never let it happen in there own court room.

CASTEL is nasty; pro government and wants to accuse litigants of crimes without evidence. He is uninformed and relies on reports from clerks who are in high school. CASTEL’ doesn’t listen and plays god.

Racially biased, republican appointed, ideologically conservative white male federal judge who thinks he's above the law, especially when it comes to upholding and enforcing our nation's antidiscrimination statutes. Repeatedly violated the U.S Constitution and numerous Canons under the Judicial Code of Conduct and should be impeached as a result.

Unfortunately, Judge Castel decides his answers without really understanding both sides of the facts, and is very pro-government. Sadly, the government changes the facts to suit themselves and the truth does not get shown in court.

He saw him put an innocent man away for the sole purposes to prove a point and make an example. He is crude and pro- goverment . Already had his mind made up prior to sentencing. Unfortunate that he is ok with his low level standard of ethics. I'm surprised the man can sleep at night knowing he displays such injustice in the courtroom under oath. It's truly ashame that such people have such powerful positons and do not use them accordingly.

Hon.P.Kevin Castel is nasty judge that does not have any empathy for anyone. He is for the government even when they could not prove there case. He also will sentence people well above the standard jail time.

Unfit to sit in any bench nevermind the SDNY. Nasty. Loose with rulings. Unfamiliar with law. Shorttempered and biased. Truly unfortunate. Take a magistrate every time. Always for the Govt - City, State, Country.

Clearly demonstrates a bias towards the Government. He decides the case in his head before the trial even starts (almost always for the government) and does everything he can to help the side he has chosen.

I am a law firm librarian and last year I was the foreman on a patent infringement case tried before Judge Castel. During the two-week trial the jury had to deal with many technical aspects involving the patent in question. Throughout that time, Judge Castel exhibited the highest qualities one could want of a Federal trial court judge: Respect for all of the parties, including the jurors; a facility for moving along the case once a point had been made; a grasp of procedural matters which seemed almost second-nature to him; and a sense of humor necessary during a tedious (yet important) trial. Judge Castel deserves the accolades which I have seen already posted on this site.

Had a five day jury trial with this judge and he presided over the matter fairly and was fully prepared. Great judge, and could not sense any leanings from his decisions.

I tried a three-day civil rights case in front of Judge Castel and was very impressed at (1) the balance he struck between letting the parties put on their case and moving the case along and (2) the speed and accuracy of his evidentiary rulings on complicated questions. He runs about as informal a courtroom as is consistent with efficiency and adversarial respect. My sense was that most of the jurors hated the case but loved him.
