Monterey County has a cadre of horrible judges.

Monterey County has a cadre of horrible judges. Liu, Culver, and Butler. They are a big reason why Monterey County is a horrible place to practice law. A very dysfunctional, contentious, and uncivil legal community in criminal law practice. The DA Office has a huge turnover and one of the worst in the state. The Publikc Defender's Office also has its problems such as low morale. I practice mainly in Santa Clara County and I refuse to take t is more cases in Monterey County. It is very unpleasant place. Butler is a big reason for my contempt and distaste for Monterey County. She is absolutely horrible. I feel for the DA's and Public Defenders that have to spend time in front of this arrogant, surly, and horrible person.

Yet again Pamela Butler continues to do a disservice to the legal community with her apathetic disposition and refusal to know and apply the law. I will not refer to her as Your Honor because there is nothing honorable about her conduct as a jurist.

The last comment posted from June 2023 is very true. This is not only very true about her but also regarding Liu and Culver. Monterey County may be a beautiful area but unfortunately is it not a pleasant place to practice law.

Very surly and condescending judge with a bizarre fixation on minutia that have nothing to do with the case.

Very surly and condescending judge with a bizarre fixation on minutia that have nothing to do with the case. The sad part about it is I get the impression that she has no self awareness or introspection on what a disservice she is doing to the legal community. Perhaps she just doesn't care. The legal community deserves better.
