I have been in front of numerous judges who ignored facts to arrive at their ruling, Judge Saris was the first one I have appeared in front of that made facts up. Avoid at all costs if you represent a Plaintiff.

Judge Saris is a wonderful judge, with human flaws like everyone else. She has a temper, watch out. But she is a throughly decent person, kind and professional. Sometimes she can be too even handed especially where some of the counsel are playing dirty, she does not want to hear about (Who does?). As to intellect you will not find a harder working, smarter judge anywhere

Judge Saris is extremely bright, able to navigate complex IP cases, and treats litigants with respect. A bit pro government but you know she gave you a fair hearing.

Poor overall fairness.

The most important factor in her courtroom is moving the case. All other considerations are subsummed to speed. Even government evidence will be excluded if it takes too much time. An objection based on the delay a particular line of evidence/questioning will cause may be more seriously considered than one based on the constitution. In short, though a pleasant person often, can be very impatient

SHE IS VERY PREOSECUTION ORIENTED. However, she treats attorneys with respect and will be open to considerations by the defense. she is rather uptight and anxious to move the case along at the expense of getting in all the evidenc necessary.

She presents as somewhat informal and open, but is by reflex with the government in criminal cases and the defense in civil. Although bright, the results are so often skewed to the government that her intelligence is very often irrelevent. She is viscerally reactionary, but an intellectual liberal, which tempers the results. She is not mean and treats people with respect. At trial she can be short when she is confronted with difficult issues, and seeks to "fix" problems encountered by the government. Be careful.
