she is a very emotional judge, she is very one sided and most often she won't even look at the actual facts presented, she sides with minor counsel, even if she is in the wrong. she should not be a judge she is very rude, and unprofessional, and will goes out of her way to take parents' rights away, even if you have multiple police reports and CPS reports, she will call the those (HEAR SAY). I hope other people would stand up and would take away her license for good. what a shame.
I had to go before judge penny twice. I won’t go into all the details of how terrible a job she did; I wanted to point out how each time she literally ignored the mediators reports and ruled completely separately. Very pro father negative to mothers.
I have to thank the Parent who posted before I even thought of doing so, I didn’t have the courage to speak up before, but GOD given that this is who are children depend on, I’m going to speak up on what’s been going on with my case I want to share my experience with Judge Pennie McLaughlin. My goal is to highlight issues that may impact the well being of OUR children in her courtroom.
I am a parent involved in a family court custody case in California with Pennie K McLaughlin I am sharing my experience to help others understand the proceedings and what to expect.
Judge McLaughlin has a full‑blown Pollyanna complex — and while that might be tolerable in everyday life, it is absolutely disastrous in family court. She behaves as if she’s a parenting coach or therapist instead of a judge with the responsibility to make firm, protective decisions. Nearly all of her courtroom time is wasted lecturing parents about “getting along,” as if optimism alone can override violence, manipulation, or danger.
This judge has no business in family law she is all for the abusers, doesn’t listen to mediators and flirts with council!
McLaughlin fails to understand that it only takes one person to make a coparenting dynamic hostile. She's condescending when she says "I'll have to make the decision because you two can't." I've heard this statement from her repeatedly in my hearings and observing other hearings. She is incapable of being firm, making decisions, or upholding the mediator's recommendations or the previous judge's orders. She's a big proponent of giving abusers 3rd and 4th chances and just wants everyone to get along. She coddles and enables men who insist on putting their needs above their kids. Great in theory but we're divorcing for a reason. Stay away!
