Randy Rhodes

I was a plaintiff in a Civil lawsuit in Ventura County Superior Court. I had the good fortune of having Judge Rhodes as the trial judge during May 2024 when he substituted for Judge Bennet. After having encountered a number of really awful judges who officiated my case, I was pleasantly surprised by Judge Rhodes. Be it jury selection or deliberations on motions this is a wise human being who is fair to all sides. I just wish there were more Randy Rhodes in our Legal system.

To the person that described my post as lame, you dont have to be Shakespeare to know when someone spits in your face. The robing room is for review of Judges, not Lawyers. Just come out and say you support this horrible Judge and his biases, instead of hiding behind your criticism of sentence structure.BTW, what exactly do you mean by "posts two hours apart" I posted once, Einstein.

In my 23 years of practicing law, this is the worst Judge I have appeared in front of. He could not even control his bias against the Plaintiffs. If you are a minority avoid him, if you are White and a Defendant in a Civil case, he is your dream come true. He is a disgrace to the practice of Law.He is the worst type of Judge because he acts as if he is on your side when he is doing everything he can to undermine your case. No need for a Defense Lawyer when you have one sitting on the Bench. If you are a Plaintiff's Lawyer that read this review and you do not strike this Judge, you've done your client a great disservice.

A Real Piece of Work. Case was reassigned to Rhoades for trial three days prior to the expiration of the 5 year statute. Rhodes begins jury selection, asks if the court reporter can be excused from transcribing voir dire, then sua sponte dismisses 3 of the first 6 jurors without cause and suspends jury selection demanding that Plaintiffs' counsel give an offer of proof to Defendants' counsel as to 66 witnesses, wasting 1/2 a day (including numerous insults) so that the 5 year statute could expire. Plaintiffs decided to dismiss their case. Although Plaintiffs defeated 2 MSJs, and Rhodes had heard no evidence, he told the Plaintiffs that they had no case.
