Are you a brash white man who likes to overtalk women and secretly or loudly long for the days when women deferred to your whim? Well this Judge is the one for you. She will let you you interrupt and be rude and give you the deference you believe you are entitled to. If you do not fit this demographic, pack it up. She absolutely should not be on the bench. The sad thing is that this Court has judges who are only slightly better. But the somewhat worse is better than godawful, which is what this judge is. File that 170.6 as soon as you see that she is your judge.

I was on a jury for a civil trial that involved an international business dispute. The trial was lengthy, complex, and complicated by technological challenges, and the majority of the litigants/witnesses requiring translator services. Judge Marquez was impressive in her ability to facilitate efficiency in an inherently unwieldy trial. Fantastic judicial temperament.

I have been practicing more than 30 years and I have never felt any judge's actions deserved a poor rating in Robing Room. They work hard, are human and I have nothing but respect. But I am making an exception for Judge Marquez. This judge not only bent over backwards for my opposing pro per litigant, she issued a minute order that gave legal assistance to that litigant (which was not served on me), made a completely erroneous ruling on a civil discovery motion, and blamed ME for the litigant's failure to pursue an IDC on the LITIGANT'S OWN MOTION! Automatic 170.6 for me going forward and quite frankly this is the worst judge I have ever appeared before.
