Could have been a great judge. Could have actually shown that a little boy from meager beginnings from a no-name town could make a difference. Could have stayed around and taken on larger cases. But his so obvious inferiority complex made that utterly impossible. Sad. His during trial rulings were actually at times somewhat even-handed. But the whole time there was this seething anger, you could barely discern. But it would burst. One way or the other. Again, sad. What could have been. I hear he took the early retirement and hitched it back up to no where land. Good for him. He had his time in the Sun. He got burnt.

May appear abrasive but Judge Blackburn not only honors Constitutional law, he weighs in all evidence, facts, law and case history from both parties for an impartial outcome. In extreme contrast, Judge Philip A. Brimmer boldly refuses to honor Constitutional law or weigh in any credible evidence, facts or relevant law from both parties. Unlike Judge Blackburn, Brimmer demonstrates zero legal inclinations. There are a few who could learn and benefit from Judge Blackburn's impartial, scholarly and sound rulings.

terrible judge. pretentious enough to wear a bow tie each day. bad combination of being a complete moron, but thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. unabashedly anti-plaintiff, and invents new laws in order to protect big corporations. Finds big words in the dictionary and waits months to squeeze them into a conversation so that people have to look it up in the dictionary.

Good old boy Republican judge. Between Krieger and Brimer, the federal court in Colorado has become a Plaintiff's nightmare. Never thought I'd see the day in Colorado when Plaintiffs file in state court to avoid these 3 judges, only to have the Defendants remove to federal court, knowing that if they draw one of these 3 judges, their Motions for Summary Judgment will be granted. Anyone notice how you never see a jury trial in his court where the Plaintiff is an individual and the Defendant is a corporation?

Knew this judge as a child. He was a hard-working, serious student, excellent football player, pretty decent guy. As a judge he has gotten "too big for his britches" in some of his attitudes, no doubt because, as the old saying says, "power corrupts." He believes certain laws do not apply to him, such as driving under the influence; claims the cops will just take him home because it's "bad business" to try to prosecute a person in his position. That ain't equal justice under the law, folks. Nevertheless, he is a good citizen overall. And he is NOT a Democrat as shown on his profile, he is a conservative Republican.

Regarding his brilliant decision on the "Stolen Valor Act" only an ACLU Weasel would interpret the law in the manner he ajudicated this case. He certainly doesn''t understand the "spirit" of the law! One more crap decision that undermines the public''s faith in an "independant" judiciary.

I guess as a twenty year veteran of the U.S. Navy, I would like to see his Honor go into the engine room of an aircraft carrier and run a 1200 psi. steam plant. He can't, imagine that. So in light of his ruling in the case of stolen valor, I guess the first amendment protects my right to don a black robe, carry a gavel and sit in his chair and make rulings in his court right? No?! If that is the case, his Honor is acting more like a piece of garbage than an honorable Judge. MM1(SS/SW) Ret. (really)

An excellent jurist who knows how to run the courtroom. Fairly smart with a good sense of humor. Doesn't take himself too seriously. Can be too much of a stickler for procedure, but it may be necessary because of unprepared lawyers.

Judge Blackburn is great example of why the system is no longer a justice system but a broken legal system and a good cause for forum shopping which only jams up other courts. He has no regard for the law, ignores evidence, rules for big corporations no matter how much evidence is against them or how many millions of consumers are affected by the case. He is anti-consumer, anti-plaintiff, and discriminates against average middle-class Americans. The merits of the case mean nothing to this narcissist. Cares more about clearing his docket than doing his job. Lazy and slow. A disgrace to the robe.

First and foremost a very fair judge. He listens to all parties involved in the case, and gives an abundance of fair time for both sides. He is respectful, and has a good sense of right and wrong. Does not think he's better than anyone in the courtroom. He handles his courtroom in a very professional manner.

A man of character and principle, not swayed by personal opinion, politics, or mood. He is fair, respectful, and kind to each and every person who steps foot into his courtroom. Moreover, he is intelligent and thoughtful. I have never met a more principled man or jurist.

An average trial judge that thinks highly of himself. He likes to quiz other lawyers to show his superiority on rules of evidence and procedure...as if sitting on the bench was not enough to prove his prowess. Decisions are slow, slow, slow. Decisions are sparsely researched, and then only for cases that support the result that he wants to reach. Defense-oriented. Judge Blackburn thinks he is smarter, better and closer to God than anyone in a trial, which is an unfortunately all-too-common affliction with most of the judges in the District of Colorado. He has his good days during trials, but there is always the problem with his decisions and judicial attitude.

I served as a juror. During the trial I thought he was fair and even-handed. Eighteen months after the trial he threw out our verdict. This judge is a disgrace. His reasons for granting a new trial were based on conjecture and false assumptions. The jury system is the bedrock of the rule of law. Judge Blackburn did not like the outcome of the trial and found a convoluted reason to subvert the legal system. He insulted the jury and has no respect for the system. Beware if you are unlucky enough to draw this judge. The only voice he listens to is his own. Even if you win he may decide that you lose!
