Judge Minder presided over a family court matter involving a minor child.

Judge Minder presided over a family court matter involving a minor child. His lack of expertise in understanding domestic violence in a family court setting was very disturbing to see. There had been issues of domestic violence and alcoholism. There had been two prior orders of protection granted for the mother of the child and he declared that since there had not been any acts of domestic violence this would not be admitted nor considered in the custody issue. Judge Minder left the bench for a 5 minute recess to allow discussion between the pro per father and the mother's hired attorney. This break happened as the Judge let the mother on the stand testifying. When the Judge left the bench, the father approached the mother and flung paperwork at her, in the successful attempt to intimidation her. Allow mother's attorney told him this would be consideration a violation of the present order of protection as the Judge had excited the courtroom. When the attorney brought this matter up to Judge Minder, he dismissed it with a comment of, "let's try to be nice to each other" instead of sternly explaining that when a Judge leaves the bench, the order of protection is in place. I believe he should never return to the family court hearings until he takes several classes of domestic violence law and of victimization. I am glad to know he is not hearing cases on domestic violence custody issues.
