Thomas J. Whelan

Whelan clearly does not read defense motions and will most likely go with prosecution's recommendations for pre-trial treatment. Has on many attempts ruled contrary to black letter law, most likely because he never read the brief.

Limited experience, but very impressed. For the most part, he ruled for us on the things that we should have and ruled against us on the arguable points. He was very fair and I have been very impressed thus far.

Cautious but interested in applying the law in a straightforward manner. Rarely holds hearings on motions.

Judge Whelan is a person of intelligence, fairness and good humor. It is a delight to appear before him.
