Vincent Del Giudice

I never appeared before him, but if half of what was reported in the NY Daily News about his excessive sentencing practice is true, he should not be on the bench ruining lives. Unchecked power. The frightening thing is how many defendants have not appealed his clearly exccessive sentences and they now languish in jail unjustly for the rest of their natural lives.

This judge has a documented history of covering up police and prosecutorial misconduct, suborning perjury, and sentencing at least one innocent man charged with murder to 25 years in prison. A study published in March 2024, identified Del Giudice as the worst "excessive sentence" judge in New York. The Appellate Division has found his sentences to be impermissibly excessive, and reduced them more than any other judge. The next worst judge had less than a sixth of the reductions that Del Giudace had.
