Once he was a very fair judge and gave lineant sentences in comparison to other judges. His health has deteriorated to the point that can barely be understood or move in a wheelchair, however he insist on staying on the bench. In the past he partipated in programs to help those in need and led a very active lifestyle, he should have been a pastor.

In 40 years of practice--trying cases in many parts of the country--I have rarely encountered a finer judge or a finer human being. I wish I could bring him back to San Francisco, and make him 25 years younger. What a pleasure!
