A hard worker. Should advance within the Circuit to a higher position. A judge to be watched.

I was very impressed by Judge Carter when I was litigating a case before the EDNY. He was even-handed and did not appear to side with either the plaintiff or the defendant. He gave the parties a level playing field, which is surprisingly refreshing despite the fact that this is supposed to be a judge's stated role. As an employment plaintiff's attorney in the SDNY, I find I am often "swimming against the current" with many judges who seem to strongly favor the corporate defendants. Not with Judge Carter. He was a much needed addition to the SDNY bench. Good job President Obama.

In the case I had before Judge Carter, I found that he truly cared about the issues. He was very fair in that he did not allow a large company to walk all over our "little guy" employee plaintiffs and intervened (at our request) on a few occasions. Ultimately he found against our employees on the merits but it was a well reasoned decision.

I have been practicing for nearly two decades in front of judges in the Southern District and can confidently say I have never met another judge that radiates brilliance like Judge Carter. He ruled on our Motions with thought and compassion, and issued a detailed, fair, and thoughtful opinion. He should be strongly considered for elevation to the 2nd circuit.

I had the pleasure of appearing before this Judge last week for the first time. I arrived a bit early to see how he ran his Part. The man ought to be clowned and sent to sit on the bench in every courthouse in the country. I'm still talking about my appearance before him to my colleagues and friends. In one word, Fantastic.

A delightful human being with the potential to be an excellent judge. Seems to be pragmatic with good knowledge in the procedural and discovery contexts. May be light in some substantive areas but I think he has the capacity to learn and grow. Definitely in the runing for roookie of the year.
