He is totally shortsighted. His laziness probably factors into the giving of a 2 for scholarship. He knows his limitations and brings in special masters as needed - partially because he is likely incapable of concentrating long enough to figure it out himself. He should maybe bring some files home to read while he is riding around on one of his mules (which he refers to as his "judicial mobile unit when he talks to counsel from the farm as he rides around on his mules.) While he is colorful with his folksy persona, he acts like that so people will say "he's no dummy," but ...

Billy Roy Wilson is full of himself and perceives himself as the star of the courtroom. That worked well for him in private practice (sometimes) but doesn't - and shouldn't carry over to the bench. He is smart but thinks he is smarter than he is, he is biased, and he places his "street lawyer" persona and his own sense of what he believes is right over the law. He was a very bad choice for the federal bench.

Wears his country-boy affect on his sleeve, but it is genuine. Recently changed name officially to "Billy Roy Wilson." Some bias toward Plaintiff in civil litigation and to those who are his buddies. Considered a scholar by some but some of his rulings are not well-reasoned and seem results oriented.

This judge is completely biased in his approach to cases and the law. He demonstrates a generally pro-plaintiff attidude, especially in employment cases, and an unwillingness to follow well-established precedent. He is smug and involves himself unnecessarily in the issues of a case pre-trial (often taking over the roles of the attorneys) and causes unnecessary work for attorneys and increases in the expense of the litigation. I can think of few people who seem to be so unsuited temperamentally to be a judge.

Excellent Judge. Top Lawyer before he took the bench and still remembers what it was like. He knows when to be tough, and when to let lawyers do their jobs. Defendants withholding documents beware.
