Judge Rufe is always prepared as she reads everything that is submitted. Although she can be tough, she is respectful, her decisions are well reasoned and she is fair.

I notified the Court and the U.S. Government of fraudulent criminal behavior by Ms. Slaey, and it has thus far gone uninvestigated. This is really a disappointment. I am a taxpayer, and for years I have paid for this government contract with my tax dollars. Now she just gets away with her criminal behavior! See Civil Case No. 06-4930, U.S. Government vs. Mary Louise Denese Slaey.

Judge Rufe is so friendly to the government that she should be the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Philadelphia. She has been reversed a number of times.

Very disappointed in this Justice's decision in civil action #08-4899. As a woman employed by the defendant, I was awaiting a decision that would vindicate many of us here at GMS. Now 2 women have decided not to continue with their sexual discrimination cases against this entity, and one woman has decided not to proceed with a sexual harassment charge. Thus, the rippling, or should I say crippling effects of the American justice system's "chess game."

I knew her as a state court judge. She conducted much of the case in chambers off the record and then had a very different demeanor on the record. Very calculating, and very biased against families of children with disabilities.

As a juror, I really appreciated her court demeanor. During the proceedings, it was clear that she was both level-headed and compassionate in a way that is so important for a judge. I served once as a juror before, and that judge came across as much more abrasive (yet somehow disengaged at the same time!). I was disappointed that we were often kept waiting (in the morning before trial and during breaks), though I'm not sure how much of that was normal procedure for any trial/judge. I was not a big fan of George W. Bush, but he apparently did something right in appointing Judge Rufe. It's good know that someone with such a position of power is doing her part to ensure that justice prevails.

Judge Rufe is thoughtful and very astute on the bench. Pushes for settlements where it makes sense in civil cases.
