Is a graduate of Harvard, then did appellate work at a large firm. Appointed to the state bench where he was a civil law judge. Lacks criminal experience. Wants to be an appellate judge.

At sentencing, follows guidelines but will vary with in the range sepending on relevant conduct facts. For example in a dope case, if defendanthas a large amount of drugs, sentence will be at the high end of ght guideline range. Fairly listens to sentencing arguments.
