I entered my SR revocation hearing incredibly nervous, facing a potential 5 year sentence for a Grade A violation. The Judge’s demeanor changed everything. He treated me with dignity, made me feel comfortable, and heard me out. instead of the maximum, he gave me a below guideline sentence of 6 months. A truly fair and honorable judge.
arrogant,biased, lazy with an attitude of entitlement. Get rid of him
After a long 11 years Battle with immigration he sided with them 100% without consedering any of our summuries didn't even see us for a whole long year in his court .
He is decent cordial and fair. He isn't the hardest worker but no need to fear his decision making.
Didn't know the facts of the case and seemed unqualified to work with complex legal issues. Is not current on the state of the law. Well adapted to practice in Ohio where competence and evolved intellects are objects of discrimination.
Judge Nugent's courtroom is the most comfortable room in which to practice law. He is respectful of the parties and attorneys, patient, understanding and is as even-tempered a jurist as I've ever practiced before. A great man.
Sandbagged plaintiff's counsel by professing sympathy with case in pre-trial proceedings, then: No guidance on pre-trial motions. No effort to explore settlement. Openly favored defense counsel before jury. Encourages fawning by defense counsel (civil) and, believe me, it works. Barely conceals disdain for civil plaintiffs' bar. Narcissistic and arrogant. Otherwise I liked him a lot!
I have found this Judge to be completely uninterested in criminal habeas corpus cases. Very little granted in the way of discovery or hearings.
