Petty and vindictive old-school magistrate who delights in nitpicking procedural minutia and giving attorneys a needless, exhausting hard time. He'll scrutinize every detail obsessively and unintelligibly, turning routine matters into prolonged adversarial battles with the Court that drain everyone involved. His own published law review article ('Is "Good Cause" a Good Thing? Why I Hate Scheduling Orders') exposes a judge openly frustrated and hating the rules that specifically allow flexibility yet he nonetheless enforces without mercy, revealing a hypocritical, inflexible mindset obsessed with 'gotcha' moments over practical, efficient justice. If he wants to be hostile to attorneys he should step down and try lawyering like he once did with his Backdraft case, which ironically, if I remember correctly, had many extensions that he himself wouldn't have granted. Many attorneys quietly share the frustration but stay silent out of fear—his lack of judicial temperament is a real stain on the bench. Approach with extreme caution

An impartial, smart, and practical USMJ. I didn't agree with all his rulings, but they were within the realm of fair legal disagreement. Worked hard to push the parties into an interim partial settlement and early mediation (which was not successful, but he was not the mediator).

Civil Litigation-Pro Se Plaintiff, Wlodzimierz Dzwonczyk: Wonderful Judge, just, extremely pleasant during conferences, highly eloquent, never manipulative, orders based on clever judgment. I lack words how great litigating experience I had with him. Splendid!

He is ruling the case based on manipulation. His orders lack the slightest basis on law. He issues short, unexplained text orders based on personal feelings. Even if his nonsensical order is cancelled by the court, he orders again, still pushing his opinion, only changing the wording. Pro se especially beware.

Maybe the worst judge in the US Courts. He has no idea what is justice, what is law and what is rules. He may believe his voice is God's voice. Funny and ridiculous!

I was Pro Se before Judge McCarthy, and I am dyslexic. He went out of his way to accommodate my disability, extended page limits when need, and was very understanding of my needs. Judge McCarthy does want to see a case settle, and will be very helpful in ideas to help the process, but will not "twist anyone's arm". If you are Pro Se and find yourself before Judge McCarthy, try to have the case decided by him. He is fair.

Terrible. Just terrible. Apathetic, uninspired, and incredibly slow. Decisions seem to bear no relation to law or fact.
