Oh how we miss Johnny Boy! He was rock solid, always right down the middle and a real gentleman with whom to work. The Circuit's gain is our loss.
He is the best. We all know that...I hope. He is Honest John.
Judge Tinder is the judge you would want your kid in front of if he or she were accused of a federal crime. He is also the judge you would want your case in front on if you were the victim of the crime. They don't pass out lifetime appointments to article III judges for nothing. Follow the law, excercise some common sense and compassion both for the accused and the public and, magically, something approaching justice results. The Judge has it down to a science.
Very smart, but quite smarmy in proceedings, berating lawyers for mistakes and showing how much smarter he is that they. He loves to embarrass lawyers and can be withering in his treatment of them. He tends to want to explain every decision he makes during a trial, in order to justify it, when the parties would prefer him just to rule and move on. On the other hand, he is a class gentleman in front of the jury, treating all in the courtroom with respect, and even allowing jurors to submit questions to witnesses (he filters them for appropriateness). Know his rules, know his pet peeves, and be completely prepared and you will do fine. His coordiantor is first class, as well.
