Court Staff: Judge Alonso allows himself to be intimidated by litigants who possess…

Judge Alonso allows himself to be intimidated by litigants who possess power or wealth. He fails to rule on law alone, instead ruling according to his fear of litigants. As a Judge whose family immigrated to the US from Cuba during the 1970s conflicts. He's forgotten that his father was an honorable man who refused to be intimidated or bought by Castro. His father would be ashamed to see that his son can be intimidated by criminals.

Jorge Alonso is far from honorable! He has zero understanding of case law and runs his forum like a 'Kangaroo Court' As a judge at least have decency to uphold the Law. Furthermore, have respect to look litigants in the eyes & prohibit witness intimidation by Law Enforecement in hallway"s of courthouse. High time to vote the dishonorable Judge Alonso out. So sad PRESIDENT OBAMA nominated this clown. Perhaps he should return to Public Defender, its where he belongs.

A 9.7 rating based on 4 comments; one from court staff. Clearly this judge needs to get back to work and stop posting anonymous puff pieces about how good he is. I had him. He clearly has no understanding of anything that is civil in nature (career public defender before he went on to a career as a state and then federal judge) and does whatever his law clerks tell him. Yes, even if what they tell him has no basis in fact, law or plain common sense. But hey, apparently his staff love him because "[h]e always treats his staff with respect and fairness." Sure. Whatever you say, judge.

The best judge to work with. He always treats his staff with respect and fairness. He does not micromanage and listens and implements ideas for improvement of court procedure or chambers procedures.

I must have had judge Alonso's evil twin. It took him more than two years to render two decisions in an outstandingly straightforward case. Just about as lazy and disrespectful as he had can be of litigant's time, resources and stress. And I was the prevailing litigant....

I am an out-of-town lawyer that tried a civil case over a number of weeks before Judge Alonso. We prevailed - full disclosure - but I had only the best things to say about him even before this was the case. He's brilliant, calm, kind, works hard, was just on top of things during the trial. He's a pleasure to be in front of.

I have known Judge Alonso for a long time in my capacity as an assistant public defender when he was a state judge. I have known him to be fair and even handed. Politically he tends to be liberal. And he is a big UM Hurricane fan.
