He is a very fair and honorable judge.
This judge is extremely intelligent and is able to grasp complex issues quickly. He tries civil cases in ways that are fair for all sides, and is even-handed.
One of the most even handed and intelligent jurist. Has great ability to find the real questions and properly apply the correct law.
I was involved in a Title 7 case before juries decided facts. That was in 1990, as I recall. The case was tried (non jury, mind you)in 1992 or 1993. He did not issue an opinion for more than 10 years. When he did, things had changed so much that new discovery was required. Then, it took several years to settle the case.
Scholarly, very formal. Has reputation for being very dilatory in getting orders issued. Uses inactivity to try to make problems in cases go away. Can avoid tough decisions at times. Been banged around by the Circuit some and it has affected him somewhat.
A very solid judge.
