HE CAME TO PR TO PRESIDE OVER THE TRIAL OF THE GOVERNOR OF PR AND OTHER DEFENDANTS AFTER ALL JUDGES HERE RECUSED THEMSELVES OR WERE FORCED TO RECUSE THESELVES BECAUSE THEY, EXCEPT FOR ONE, BELONG TO THE OPPOSING PARTY. HE BROUGHT JUSTICE, SANITY AND FAIRNESS TO ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TRIALS IN PR. IT WAS A RELIEF AND PLEASURE TO APPEAR IN FRONT OF HIM. I THOUGHT HIS UNDERSTANDING OF THEN MERKY HONEST SERVICES LAW AND HIS ANALYSES OF ALL ISSUES BRILLIANT.HE CLEARLY UNDERSTANDS WHAT A FEDERAL JUDGE SHOULD BE AND NOT BE. AFTER APPEARING SO MANY YEARS BEFORE UNTALENTED JUDGES WHO REFUSE TO LEARN THE LAW OR THE RULES OF EVIDENCE HE WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. EVERY DEFENDANT GOT A FIAR TRIAL AND SENTENCING. HE KNOWS HOW TO SENTENCE PEOPLE AND TO DEPART AND TO IMPOSE A LEGITIMATE VRIANCE AND HAS NO RESERVATION IN EXPLAINING HIS REASOSNING.

This guy knows everything and he doesn't mind telling you. He knows every case even before it is filed, never mind litigated. Routinely abuses lawyers , jurors and witnesses, just because he thinks nobody can do anything about it. Not open to any argument, because of his self importance.

Absolutely awful. Insists on being the smartest kid in the room by insulting the capabilities of both Def. counsel and the Gov't. Makes sure Defendant knows his attorney is an moron and the prosecutor an idiot before the Court tells everyone what it WOULD have done and how it will now come out. Arrogant, belittling, should be relegated to hearing traffic citations

A tough task master. He can be a bit surly and impatient. When you are in his court you'd better know your stuff. But if you do you can depend on him to know the law and the rules of procedure and apply them evenly and move the trial along toward a fair and just conclusion He does not tolerate fools lightly. Do not come to his court unprepared.

Very hardworking, always well-prepared, intolerant of discovery abuses and squabbles, and "gets it right" nearly every time in civil cases. Prone to some bluster and what can appear to be prejudgment, but can be dislodged by calm argument and citation to precedent. The quickest way to set him off is not listening to him and answering his questions directly... but the well-prepared lawyer does fine in his courtroom. Would place every case in his hands if I had the option - because his work is reliably excellent.

Criminal Defense Lawyer: Not as smart as he thinks he is.
